WESTBROOK —Black Dinah Chocolatiers, the award-winning, Maine-based makers of signature chocolate truffles and sea salt caramels, is launching a contest in which one lucky entrant will win the opportunity to don a chef’s hat, and get elbow deep in chocolate at the company’s state-of-the-art Westbrook factory.
“People tell me how they’ve always wanted to work in a chocolate factory,” company founder Kate Shaffer says about the inspiration for the contest. “Well, this is their big chance. Full — but supervised! — access to our equipment, and me and my team.”
The prize is a chocolate lover’s dream come true. The winning chocolatier will work side by side with Kate and her team, receiving one-on-one instruction on how to make ganache (the chocolate-and-cream center of a truffle), cook caramel, enrobe truffles, temper chocolate, and mold bonbons. The winner will also take home a selection of what they make over the course of the day, plus Kate’s award-winning cookbook “Desserted” and their very own Black Dinah Chocolatiers chef’s cap and apron.
The contest will launch via the company’s Facebook page on Sept 4, 2018 and will close at 11:59 pm on September 17, 2018. The winner will be announced on Facebook on September 20th, and their day at the chocolate factory will be scheduled in cooperation with Black Dinah Chocolatiers.
